Baby Love

Well Lukas is a month old now and gets lots of love from his big brother and sister. Zadie is such a helper, always asking to change his diaper or burp him. She is really good at helping me with whatever I need. The other night Lukas was hungry right after we had made a mess in the kitchen so she washed the dishes for me. I am grateful for all she is willing to do. Romeo has also come a long way and now tells me every day that he loved 'Baby Lukas'.
Bath time...he is finally starting to like taking a bath. It's getting undressed that he doesn't like.

Lukas' Easter outfit.
So precious!
Taking a ride in the swing. He was just falling asleep in this picture. He is such a good baby; I feel so thankful for that!
Zadie & Lukas
I love when babies sleep with their arms above their heads. Lukas sleeps like this a lot. If I wrap his arms in the blanket, he'll work until he gets them out.
Romeo asked to hold the baby and it was right around his nap time. I went back to my bedroom to get something and when I came back out, this is what I found. I think it is the cutest picture ever!! And I have one of Zadie like this with Romeo.
I am so grateful to be a mother. I love my kids so much!

Riding without Training Wheels

Zadie took a couple spins on Jaren's smaller bike when she was at their house, and when she came home, she asked Derrick to take her training wheels off. Once he showed her how to get on and balance, she was off and hasn't stopped since. (Even after she took a digger on the sidewalk!)

Happy Easter!

All the goodies the Easter Bunny left us!!!
Zadie's basket
Romeo's basket
and the trampoline!!
Since the kids spend so much time outside riding their bikes, (Zadie can ride without training wheels now) they got bike helmets for Easter.
Still sleepy...
modeling her clothes...
and Romeo's...He was more interested in the stickers and the candy gum!
More clothes...
Derrick insisted that I get in a picture with them. Don't I look lovely! Yuck!
All decked out in their gear. They look so cute!

Egg Hunt

Since we had the typical cold, windy, rainy Easter weather, we gathered again this year at Grandpa and Grandma Critton's for our egg hunt and lunch. No matter where we are, the kids still have a blast searching for eggs and competing to see who can get the most. Here they all are waiting on the stairs while the adults tried to hide all the eggs.
Romeo found lots of eggs in with the newspapers, and the one Grandma hid in her shirt!
Zadie tried her luck with the older kids and made out pretty well...
So pretty!

All the grandkids, and then some...
We had a really good time together with all the family, but we usually do. Happy Easter!

Dog House

Since our dog Axel tore apart his other dog house, Derrick decided that he better build a sturdier one out of wood. Once he got is built, the kids helped him prime it, then they painted it. They had a lot of fun with it as you can tell by their faces.

Derrick had me join in the fun too.
And it was actually a lot of fun...

Hopefully Axel likes his new house...and I don't think he will be chewing this one apart any time soon! :) Good job honey!

Lukas Layne Turner

Well, we have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little boy, but we were hoping he would hold out until after my last week of work and Catlin's wedding. And what a good little boy he is...he came just when I wanted him too.
We had just gotten home from the reception and had eaten some dinner when my water broke(about 10:15 or 10:30). I wasn't 100% sure, but it didn't take long to confirm it. Once I told Derrick, he went into action and helped me get the kids ready to go to Mom's with Uncle Yaeger. I already had my bag and the baby's bag packed, so we were good there.
I called Mom to tell her and she answered the phone saying:
Mom: "Did your water break?"
Me: "Yes."
Mom: "You're kidding!"
Me: Nope, and I'm feeling pressure."
So she sent Yaeger over to get the kids and we headed to the hospital. Well, once we got there, my labor pretty much stopped so I walked around for about an hour, and still wasn't really getting anywhere. I was frustrated because the other two kids came within 4 hours, so I decided to have them give me Pitocen, but at the lowest dose. And boy did it work. I went from a 5 (i was already dilated to 5 when I got there and 70% thinned) to a 7 in about 1 1/2 hours then the nurse put me in her magic position and I finished dilating in about 20 minutes. Those last 20 minutes about did me in, but I knew I didn't have a choice but to do it, so with the help of my mom and Derrick, I made it.
Kennedy had never even heard a baby's heart beat, so she was pretty excited to be there.
Still feeling good...
My sweet husband...he was so good to me and so concerned. He is precious!
Christy and Kennedy
Mom was so exhausted from the week of wedding prep...you can see in the next picture just how exhausted...
Zonked out...but she was awake when I needed her. Thanks Mom!
I had told Derrick before that I would just need him to hold my hand, but not when I was having a contractino. He did just what I asked and was the perfect hubby.
This is the magic position...It sure worked fast, but it was non-stop contractions and pain. I was glad to have my mom there. Just when I thought I couldn't do anymore, she would encourage me. I think Derrick was scared to death, but he was strong for me. Thanks babe!
A picture is worth a thousand words here...
I started to feel a lot of pressure, so I told them to go get the nurse. She had heard my cries and was out in the hallway. She came in right away and had me roll onto my back so she could check me. I was a 9 and almost thinned completely and the pain-!!!!! After she checked me, the pain went away and I knew it was time. I told Dr. B that he was coming, 6 times to be exact, and with the next contraction, he was sliding out-literally. Dr. B. didn't even have time to get his gloves and gown on. He caught him bare handed as he came out. I'm glad he was there!
Here he is:

Thanks everyone for helping me. Ricci and Derrick stayed up with me all night, keeping my spirits up and I appreciate it. Thanks Jessie and Ricci for filming and taking pictures. They're priceless. Thanks Mom for being there and to Rosie and Layne for driving down in the middle of the night to share this with us, and the biggest thanks goes to my wonderful husband. I couldn't ask for anything more. I love you.
